4 Hair Growth Secrets Your Girlfriend is HIDING from You!

1. The Art of Deep Conditioning.

You may be wondering, what the heck is a deep conditioner?

Deep conditioners go under many names:

Hair masque, Deep Treatment, Repair Masque...they all mean the same thing.

What separates them from regular, rinse out conditioners is the way in which they penetrate the hair shaft.

They are much stronger than typical conditioners and have the benefit of softening your hair while also giving your crown a lustrous shine.

But this is only ONE of the secrets that the ladies have been hiding from us.

2. Oiling Your Scalp

Put the cooking oil down, are you trying to have your head smelling like bacon?

We mean natural oils like Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Argan Oil.

Every hair on our head is connected to a sebaceous gland that secretes a substance called sebum - and it is this substance that keeps hair feeling moisturized and elastic.

However, the tight nature of Type-4 curls make it harder for sebum to travel along the hair shaft.

So think of oiling your scalp like giving your hair a little extra push.

Follow these steps: Apply oil on your scalp and massage with your fingertips using a circular motion.

(I saw a quick difference in my hair’s overall health and feel, once I began oiling my scalp 2-3 a week.)

3. Taking Advantage of Protective Styles

Protective styling is a great way to not only add some spice to your hair routine - but to express a different side of you.

Though many of us see cornrows, braids and twists as a way to avoid 6-Hour long wash days...

There is another benefit to protective styling that many of us have overlooked!

It is way harder for breakage to occur.

Hence the name.

It’s very easy to break a single #2 pencil, however if you were to hold 10 pencils together in your palms - they would be much harder to snap.

This is the principle behind protective styles. Styles that twist and weave your hair strands make it harder for your hair to snap.

So.... go give your braider a call!

4. Taking Advantage of The Satin Bonnet

We talk a lot about protecting your hair at night over here...., and for good reason.

Sleeping on cotton pillowcases with your natural hair uncovered makes your hair dry and weak- as the cotton strips the moisture from your hair strands.

The bonnet’s satin material acts as a barrier between the cotton and your hair which can save you inches of hair growth every year!

And who wouldn't want that??

It’s a simple, cost effective solution that doesn’t drain your wallet every month - like deep conditioners and other products.

The bonnet is a one time purchase that has a near infinite ROI as you can use it for years and years - before having to replace it.

The girls have dominated the bonnet game for years.

  • thanks for the helpful tips but I live in south and the more natural products are very expensive and I’m still in high school so it is much harder to get proper products to take care of my hair
